Toho Elisabeth cast is up for the August-October 2010 run.

I saw it and kind of fell over.

First of all, I hereby crow about the Asako!Elisabeth rumour being confirmed. She must be working hard on recovering her soprano, but this is a glorious normal-theatre debut, a great role to start with, and she's going to own the stage.

Komu got Elisabeth again ♥ I just hope that this time, enterprising fans with cameras will do better ;)

Yuichiro Yamaguchi is Death again, because you'll have to hit him over the head with a shovel to get him off the stage. Since his voice is pure honeyed velvet, that is a YAY in my book.

We get two new Deaths, too. Shirota Yuu (since he has TeniMyu and SeraMyu history... *eyes TeniMyu and SeraMyu fans* any comments on how he'll handle a forceful rockstar demon?) and Ishimaru Kanji, an ex-Raoul I haven't seen.

And the real Omigod-You-Guys is for Sophie. Mori Keaki. Who's had like one role since her retirement as Yukigumi topstar (and Andre to Maki's Oscar) in 1993. Kotobuki Hizuru's the other Sophie, as usual, but Mori!

FYI, the Rudolf-of-the-month for October is Urai Kenji, Lucheni is Takashima Masahiro (aka Mr Sylvia Grab), and Franz Joseph is... Ishikawa Zen. Dear heavens, this is going to be good.

Now, where was my airplane ticket search engine?

...Shirota is Death? SHIROTA YUU IS DEATH? Oh my God. OH MY GOD.

Ahem. Sorry.

I... don't know about the 'forceful rockstar' aspect. *grins* But Shirotan is definitely much better on stage than on recording. And GODDAMMIT. I can't wait to see him in full costume now.

Heeee, Irei Kanata is still one of the cast for Rudolf?

brb, still keeling over about Shirotan.

Some links I have, anyway. *grins*
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vS0WqNXkaug - Ikkiuchi, Tezuka (Shirota Yuu) vs. Atobe (Kato Kazuki)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VBH3v6CDBQ - Yudan Sezu ni Ikou. The song continued from another song, so just ignore Kaji Masaki and Kujirai Kousuke on the beginning there. *grins*
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VP92QVgZLZQ - singing GreeeeN's Haruka
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgSU2YQA-jk - Natsu no Owari, from his DVD

*keels over* I still can't believe this.

(And how is he at handling imperious rebellious otokoyaku?)

Well... he was very good at handling rebellious, bratty, snarky tennis genius... XD XD

Oh, God. How I wish for rehearsal and backstage pics. Because Shirotan is an absolute DORK off the stage, so there'll be lots of crazy antics, I bet.

Switching Deaths around, as in having the Deaths on rotation along with the Elisabeths?

Personally, I don't think Shirota Yuu can sing worth a damn, but he has a good stage presence and isn't as poor an actor as a lot of the people in Tenimyus. (He's actually been making a name for himself doing lots of live-action stuff.)

Of course I am spoiled and hold people who perform in musicals up against people who do the same work in NY. And yes, I saw Shirota live. I have no patience to watch Tenimyu things, the music is beyond atrocious.

Well I think Shirota is considered a "musical" actor because he was in anime musicals or some such but his voice is just not that good. It's better than some of the people I've seen in Tenimyus but that is not saying much. I know a lot of people think those myus are like the greatest things ever but they're really not. The main reason to see them is to watch attractive young Japanese guys dancing and acting incredibly slashy. About the only two actors I would pay to hear sing from a Tenimyu are Kimeru and Kenn (and well maybe Miyano, but more because Miyano is now a big name seiyuu than his actual abilities.) Kimeru has frightening frightening teeth.

I also don't think he's ever been good at being very manly. >>;; Tezuka and his Tezuka certainly weren't and from what I saw of Rookies and the promo for that new Negotiator movie he's not terribly manly in either of those. But again he does have a decent presence, though I swear in most of the recent things he has been in, all I can think is "There is a white guy in this!" which is terribly distracting.

THANK YOU! You are, like, the 'only' other person I know who also thinks that Shirota Yuu "can't sing worth a damn" *__* (and not to be a horrible person but his lisp also drives me insaaane... >_>; ) I liked him in Hana Kimi though.

As I said, I'm not overly impressed with any of the Tenimyu singing I have ever heard. (and unlike most of the fangirls I've seen different productions live) You really just go to them to see Japanese guys acting super super gay. I think I would quite possibly try to break a speaker if I ever had to hear "Do Your Best" again as that has to be among the worst songs I have ever heard and I actually like current American pop. Give me the Britney Spears in a second, she's a far more talented singer than 95% of a Tenimyu cast.

I liked him in Rookies, even though I kept wondering why there was a white guy going to school in Japan. He was quite good in his bit role in Konda wa Aisaka (The Good Husband) as well, though I 1) didn't realize it was him at first and 2) I had as hard a time believing he was in high school as the majority of the cast of Beverly Hills 90210. lol It was a great movie overall though with a good script and solid acting. But I've never seen him in anything come off as manly, he's just always so incredibly bottomy.

Ahhh I see lol. What is Tenimyu, btw? I've only seen him in Seramyu as far as musicals go and am unfamiliar with Tenimyu.

LOL nice XD XD I did like him in Hana Kimi though, since his role was that of the main guy's high-jump rival, and I think it suited him better. I'd be afraid to see him in Toho Elisabeth though, as the main male singer character in one of my most favorite musicals. (He and Marina suited each other with their equally horrible singing and acting though *shudders*)

Tenimyu== Tennis no Oujisama Musicals. They're based off the Tennis no Oujsama (Prince of Tennis) manga/anime. It has a huge fan following both Internationally and in Japan and might possible have had musicals than Sailor Moon even. The story follows a bunch of Jr. High Tennis playing boys who have what is best described as magical tennis abilities the defy the laws of physics. It's also extremely popular with yaoi fans and doujinshika. The musicals are full of bad bad songs, bad acting, and not very good singing, but are beloved by fans. I personally think they are popular because they are populated by relatively good looking young Japanese males. I don't know if Yuu did Seramyu or Tenimyu first, but I saw him in one of the Tenimyu permutations during one of my Japan trips.

I never watched HanaKimi. I don't actually watch a lot of dramas. I mostly ended up seeing the movies I saw because I was on the plane and it is 14 hours to Tokyo. ^^;; Though I really really liked Konda wa Aisaka and now sort of want to own it.

AHH 'kay, now that makes sense lol. I've actually heard of Prince of Tennis, though I've never seen it, and I totally didn't know there were musicals on it either. Sounds like something I should definitely stay away from though XD XD

Woah, wish I could see this cast:

Elisabeth: Asako
Tod: Shirota Yuu
Rudolph: Urai Kenji

Though I actually think Kenji has a much better voice than Yuu and should have gotten Tod instead... T___T (But I guess he's just not attractive/manly enough for it... :/ )

I think Yuu has a nice voice, but I am not sure if he can handle Asako... ^^;;;;; But I just know him as "Mamoru, the nice boyfriend and hero", so maybe he does have a much stronger, more forceful side I just haven't seen yet.... ^^

Isn't Urai Kenji a former Tux from SeraMyu as well? *has been out of the fandom for too damn long* I've heard the name before and I'm pretty sure that's where. *googles* Yep, he was Tux! I was right. I always loved him, he was one of my favourites with a really good voice, so I think he'll be doing great as Rudolph. I always liked Yuu and thought he was a really good singer, though I'm not sure he's... got the air going for him to convince me as Tod. Otherwise, whoa, that's a lot of 'siennes.

WAIT. ANOTHER TOHO ELISABETH?! I'M EXCITED!

But, Yuichiro Yamaguchi? Again? Wasn't there another guy who played Der Tod back in 04? People hated him but I rather liked him, too. -.-

Anyway, sounds good to me! Their staging for Wenn Ich Tanzen Will is good.

I only know Shirota Yuu from Jdrama's. From the things I've seen him in, he's far, far better at playing comic relief than tough guy. Which makes it a bit strange that he's cast in the second role more (unless I've missed something -- eminently possible).

But that just makes him funnier as comic relief! Subverting expectations and all that.

*sigh* It probably is the height, at that. But he makes for quite a humdrum though guy.
