From [livejournal.com profile] _redpanda_ via [livejournal.com profile] jenlittlebottom: Ten things that happened in a fandom of mine that I just know are true, even though there's precious little evidence for them in canon.

X and Tokyo Babylon

1. In TB, Subaru went to Seishirou in the hospital that last time to confess his love and spent the night before composing his speech on the theme.
2. Nagisa walked out on Suoh after he couldn't explain to her why he needed to spend all of 1999 at Nokoru's side.
3. Kotori was utterly, completely mad.
4. Kanoe was not.
5. Seishirou has only the good of Japan in mind, and his actions as a Chi no Ryu served it, in his unique twisted way.
6. Sakurazukamori!Subaru is psychotic, easily amused and very free with his affections.
7. Satsuki's father orchestrated her career and essentially sold her off. She never knew her mother.
8. Nataku does not dream, except of breaking glass.
9. Keiichi knows.
10. CLAMP will finish X someday. (What? Yes, dears, this has absolutely no basis in canon ;) )

OUATIM

1. Sands has/had a moderately supportive family with a distant father in the CIA and a psychotic but nurturing mother
2. Sands loved Ajedrez. Deeply, foolishly, head-over-heels.
3. She loved him, and it scared her to death.
4. El pushed all thoughts of his daughter out of his mind after her death, to the point where he doesn't remember her face.
5. Sands has managed to keep his psychotic tendencies away from his employers' notice.
6. If Sands and Carolina ever met, they would have long, rambling conversations about romance novels and ethics. And get along splendidly.
7. Sands thought up the "kill the cook" line especially for El. And he chose puerco pilbil as a random dish to go along with it, solely because the restaurant was supposed to be good at it. He reused the pork line on Ramirez because he liked it so much.
8. Chiclet is a visionary, a strange kid who always saw more than the surface. That's how he ended up in Sands' way, how he became Death's guide.
9. Sands knew Buscemi. How, when, why - search me.
10. Sands listens to Britney Spears.

Silmarillion

1. Feanor and all his descendants have bipolar disorder, and would benefit from healthy doses of lithium. Okay, this one is very much canon-supported ;)
2. Celegorm would be happiest with a stack of paper, a fountain pen and lots of chocolate as he writes a future bestselling romance novel. One where Luthien dumps Beren for him, of course.
3. Galadriel is a kinslayer (okay, Kielle is to blame for this one).
4. Despite #1, Feanor was actually a good father who didn't abuse or belittle any of his sons.
5. Gondolin's sealing resulted in its population degenerating into schemes, petty vendettas and a city-wide case of cabin fever. Maeglin just had it worst.
6. Feanor saved Telufinwe Umbarto from the fire at Losgar, sustaining wounds himself.
7. The fact the Silmarillion is based on the work of Noldor and Sindarin historians accounts for the scarceness of mentions of Avari.
8. Curufin had major plans of his own, ones he didn't tell anyone about. Doriath kind of got in the way though.
9. Boromir and Faramir met Maglor when they were kids, on a beach in Dol Amroth. (Fic-bunny I might just write.)
10. Galadriel married Celeborn because he didn't have the courage to tell her "no" :)

I agree with pretty much all of those. (Well, not so sure about #2.) Also,

Curufin had major plans of his own, ones he didn't tell anyone about. Doriath kind of got in the way though.

Go on...

OUATIM

Mostly agree, although I never fully decided what his father did. And Sands' kid sister like to point out how much she hates him - originally for the thing with the Barbie dolls and then for the xmas when he 'borrowed' her bf.

2. Sands loved Ajedrez. Deeply, foolishly, head-over-heels.
3. She loved him, and it scared her to death.

Yes to both.

4. El pushed all thoughts of his daughter out of his mind after her death, to the point where he doesn't remember her face.

Hmm, that one had never really crossed my mind but I see where you're coming from.

5. Sands has managed to keep his psychotic tendencies away from his employers' notice.

Just you wait until I've finished the typing-up (print-out now covered in different colour pen marks, taking a five minute break from it)

6. If Sands and Carolina ever met, they would have long, rambling conversations about romance novels and ethics. And get along splendidly.

most definitely. I was having random thoughts about Sands and Mathilda again today. I suspect her reading material of choice is either a little old for her, or the type of kids book that works much better for adults. That led to thoughts of 'Watership Down', Sands Bunny and the fact that Sands himself would probably appreciate her reading it to him so long as no one was about.

7. Sands thought up the "kill the cook" line especially for El. And he chose puerco pilbil as a random dish to go along with it, solely because the restaurant was supposed to be good at it. He reused the pork line on Ramirez because he liked it so much.

I'll half go with that. I think it was something he'd been thinking about for a while but decided that El would be the ideal person to try it on.

8. Chiclet is a visionary, a strange kid who always saw more than the surface. That's how he ended up in Sands' way, how he became Death's guide.

Hmm, not convinced by that one.

9. Sands knew Buscemi. How, when, why - search me.

Would certainly make an interesting bit of back story. Shall ponder.

10. Sands listens to Britney Spears.

And the ABBA records he had at college were just there to stop anything getting spilled on the AC DC albums (I did actually know someone who used that line to avoid the derision of his flatmates).

Now what else can I come up with?

Well, there's the 'bisexual on principle' thing that I quite like...

Different kid sister than my Sands' sister, then. Jolene took great pleasure in tormenting her brother by telling his [girl|boy]friends some very sick stories.

There was probably a brief spell where she told the Barbie story to anyone who would listen but then she just decided that pointedly ignoring him was a better way of making her opinions known.

Will beta it first thing in the morning. Is getting a bit late now.

Not a problem.

Then I'll have to try and convince you :) "On the lips and hearts of children" is one ficlet from my "Back in the fold" cycle that I have to write before I tackle "Oaths and blood", so I have incentive in the form of a very tall elf with a semiautomatic.

Shall look forward to reading that.
