1. Sands has/had a moderately supportive family with a distant father in the CIA and a psychotic but nurturing mother
Mostly agree, although I never fully decided what his father did. And Sands' kid sister like to point out how much she hates him - originally for the thing with the Barbie dolls and then for the xmas when he 'borrowed' her bf.
2. Sands loved Ajedrez. Deeply, foolishly, head-over-heels. 3. She loved him, and it scared her to death.
Yes to both.
4. El pushed all thoughts of his daughter out of his mind after her death, to the point where he doesn't remember her face.
Hmm, that one had never really crossed my mind but I see where you're coming from.
5. Sands has managed to keep his psychotic tendencies away from his employers' notice.
Just you wait until I've finished the typing-up (print-out now covered in different colour pen marks, taking a five minute break from it)
6. If Sands and Carolina ever met, they would have long, rambling conversations about romance novels and ethics. And get along splendidly.
most definitely. I was having random thoughts about Sands and Mathilda again today. I suspect her reading material of choice is either a little old for her, or the type of kids book that works much better for adults. That led to thoughts of 'Watership Down', Sands Bunny and the fact that Sands himself would probably appreciate her reading it to him so long as no one was about.
7. Sands thought up the "kill the cook" line especially for El. And he chose puerco pilbil as a random dish to go along with it, solely because the restaurant was supposed to be good at it. He reused the pork line on Ramirez because he liked it so much.
I'll half go with that. I think it was something he'd been thinking about for a while but decided that El would be the ideal person to try it on.
8. Chiclet is a visionary, a strange kid who always saw more than the surface. That's how he ended up in Sands' way, how he became Death's guide.
Would certainly make an interesting bit of back story. Shall ponder.
10. Sands listens to Britney Spears.
And the ABBA records he had at college were just there to stop anything getting spilled on the AC DC albums (I did actually know someone who used that line to avoid the derision of his flatmates).
Now what else can I come up with?
Well, there's the 'bisexual on principle' thing that I quite like...

Hmm, not convinced by that one.
9. Sands knew Buscemi. How, when, why - search me.
Would certainly make an interesting bit of back story. Shall ponder.
