Kingdom of Heaven: bloody boring drivel in the first part, livens up in the second when Scott gets his groove on. Saladin steals the movie, along with Edward Norton's voice and a pretty silver mask. Ridley Scott proves his mettle as Director Supreme by utilizing Orlando Bloom to his best potential - by telling him to stand there and look soulful and pretty. The boy can do that.

And yes, Ridley, we get that you're very proud of the slow-motion, muted-sound, chanting-soundtrack trick for battles. Now come up with something else, plzkthx.

Normal service at this journal may be restored once my nerves recover and I get ROTS out of my system. Two more viewings, a batch or two of icons and maybe a quick fic should do it.

*laughs* I agree^_^ Bloom was actually decent in this movie.

You mean you're going to go sit through a nearly 3 hour movie another TWO times?^^

but it would work better with someone with a gruffer voice.

True. But I sort of enjoyed that Bloom's character broke a few stereotypes of the Hero Character. He wasn't tall or muscular or with a deep voice, or from a noble/legitimate line. Actually, he was almost a Japanese type of hero if you know what I mean^_~

*waves hand* This is not the sign of geekdom you were looking for.

*grins* If you say so^^

Ha Ha! You want to get ROTS out of your system?! Good luck, let me know if you are successful. My parents went to see Kingdom of Heaven and enjoyed it on its own merits, its scrambling and telescoping of history notwithstanding. I haven't seen it yet, I may have to wait until it comes out on DVD or something since this month I'm basically giving my paycheck to George Lucas. :-)
