mayoini: Rumours About Angels, a fascinating art project. I can stare at this for hours.
In related news, I watched the second dvd of Angels in America yesterday (seemed fitting, since I watched the first one on Saturday just before the sirens sounded out). My impressions?
+ Angel of America was seriously cool in a deranged way. I loved the Miltonesque pride. I saw shades of Neil Gaiman's Islington and Mike Carey's Amandiel.
+ the characters were generally fascinating (much love for Prior and Ethel in particular)
+ it helped that the actors were absolutely amazing. I expected it from Al Pacino and Meryl Streep, but the others were a pleasant surprise. Justin Kirk has an amazing range, and I hope to see him in more movies. Jeffrey Wright's voice is another for my list of favorites.
+ Louis and Joe had it coming to them. I liked that: some things, you cannot make right
+ if I wrote "Angels in America in fifteen minutes", it'd end with:
AUTHOR: *comes out and drives the point in with a shovel*
They could have skipped that last scene, or at least the breaking of the fourth wall
+ I'm happy I watched this; it gave me much food for thought.
