Takarazuka meme

Dusting off this Livejournal just for Takarazuka fandom purposes. Has it really been 19 months since I posted anything relevant?
Meme from everyone else who's dusting off their LJs lately:
1. What have you been up to in the last year or two?
2. What is the last Takarazuka show you saw and what did you think of it?
3. What was your favorite Takarazuka show of 2013?
4. What actress surprised you the most in 2013?
5. What do you think about the 100th anniversary so far?
6. What troupe you do think will win the Sports Day Festival? (And what troupe will you be rooting for regardless?)
7. What shows do you want for 2015?
1. What have you been up to in the last year or two?
Changed jobs, for something somewhat saner. Technically more time for catching up with Takarazuka, but there's always something to do... I did manage to make it to Japan for a magical two weeks and a half, where I saw my lady live (still processing that one seven months later). Spending far too much time on Tumblr, always. Current travel plans include Paris.
2. What is the last Takarazuka show you saw and what did you think of it?
Live, Last Tycoon / Takarazuka Mugen. It was shonichi, so extra magical (and such a good seat, thank you Tomu club!) but I'm very happy that Tomu - someone I've followed since getting her shinko Death some six years ago - got such a good sendoff. Final shows are so very often a mess and/or unreadable to people without much Japanese, but even I could follow both the plot and the most important speeches/songs, plus it showed off so many people. The car was a gimmick, but Tomu was... perfect.
And Takarazuka Mugen... I couldn't believe how 90s that revue was. Takarazuka 90s, the special sparkly crack I adore. It's not everyone's style, but it definitely hit the spot.
(Recorded, The Wild Meets The Wild. Which was perfectly timed to make me really regret Chii-chan leaving. And I may have a small Kai-chan situation.)
3. What was your favorite Takarazuka show of 2013?
Tough choice. Shall We Dance? was absolutely perfect Takarazuka magic with such quiet leads, but the revue left me meh, so Hanagumi's Ocean's 11 wins by a nose.
4. What actress surprised you the most in 2013?
The effect on me was more in early 2014, but definitely Micchan. I remember noticing her back in BaraAme, all messy hair and great acting, but somewhere she's picked up this self-aware cool that transforms her on stage entirely. I spent Napoleon with my opera glasses glued to her.
Oh! And Taso. I had no idea about Hanagumi apart from top trio, then
zaraphena showed me Taso and I squeed.
5. What do you think about the 100th anniversary so far?
Predictable. The OG events were nice, and not only because they dug up my lady and all the other 90s bright stars. About the only thing that surprised me is the extent of the taidan-palooza - I didn't think they'd actually manage to change over 4 out of 5 top stars within 12 months.
6. What troupe you do think will win the Sports Day Festival? (And what troupe will you be rooting for regardless?)
I want Tsukigumi to suddenly grab it and surprise everyone ;) But probably Hoshigumi, if the Tokyo run doesn't kill them. They'll want to do that for Chie. I'll be rooting for Yukigumi of course.
7. What shows do you want for 2015?
More operettas, always. No more BeruBara for a while, unless someone actually does a non-cutesy version. Something with capes.

Date: 2014-08-30 03:31 pm (UTC)This meme is really making me realise just how much recent Zuka I haven't even seen clips of. I should fix that. When I have money again.
<Edna voice>No capes!!!</Edna voice>

Date: 2014-08-30 03:37 pm (UTC)I have to admit that for keeping up with SkyStage reports, the Chinese video servers are a godssend, even though the quality is bad.

Date: 2014-08-30 08:16 pm (UTC)Hey, why not a whole series of operetta workshops, like the Shakespeare Bows. Bajadere, Orpheus, Land des Lächelns, Csardas princess, Mariza? Maybe something by Gilbert & Sullivan if they can get a translator drunk enough...

No more BeruBara for a while, unless someone actually does a non-cutesy version.
And then they manage to land us with another French Revolution musical anyway. *sigh*

Date: 2014-09-01 06:54 pm (UTC)But Masaki is probably happy she gets to rock out in period costumes again, so... I will grin and bear it. ;)

Date: 2014-09-01 07:02 pm (UTC)Mostly I'm just happy Masaki and Chapi got a show that represents an investment from Hankyu, at least as far as foreign rights are concerned.
