Kitten pictures, by demand

As demanded, here are photos of my new lodger. As far as I've been able to determine, he is very much in looks and behaviour (squeaking) to a Norwegian Forest Cat, which means he'll be about 10kg when grown - right now he's 0.6kg of fluffy hairball. Oops?

After initial bafflement, Lestat's taken to watching him like prime entertainment, and he hisses occasionally to keep the fluffball in line. Alas, Tonio's still sulking and has now swatted Sanyi twice, so we'll have to keep a good eye on him. I'm surprised, since he was very good with Lestat - but Lestat was over three months old when I brought him in.

Ooooooh! Cute cute kitty! I wish such an adorable creature turned up on my doorstep too, I want a pet. Except that my father who owns my apartment probably wouldn't like it. You'll have to keep us posted on the developments with him!

I somehow particularly adore his ears.

We had to have my beautiful 18 yr old cat put to sleep 1/2 a day ago so especially today the thought someone could toss this little guy out gives me a strong urge to kick someone. Hard.

...DAMN that kitten is cute! Even while giving a look of utter disdain!

btw - 18 yrs old and he NEVER grew into his ears. *g*

*snork* Kitten of DOOOOOM.

I live in an area with a terrible stray cat problem. So far we've been able to keep two of the ones who showed up on our front step: a tiny orange tabby that I thought was 1. male and 2. about four months old until I had a chance to look at her and realized she was fully grown (albeit undernourished), topping out at six pounds once we got her wormed, fed, and healthy; and a black and white tuxedo male who really was about three or four months old and was precisely the kitten my roommate had been talking about wanting. The orange tabby got named Siona Atreides (which has a sad story behind it) and now lives with an ex-roommate and her parents in Philadelphia; the tux is still here, and though he originally had a name with some dignity, it was quickly dropped in favor of the more descriptive Little Bastard.

And we're still catching more and taking them to the local rescue. Just last week I walked into their office with a pregnant, chocolate-point siamese clinging to my neck and talking in my ear about how SCARY it had been out there on the street and why hadn't someone helped her already. She was either lost or dumped, and I'm hoping lost but I'm suspecting dumped. (I'm thinking her pregnancy was an accident and her kittens won't turn out pure siamese, but that's just speculation.) The cats you find ...

I guess I would take him to a rescue if the local shelters were any good, but quite frankly I don't trust them to be either hygienic (too many horror stories of people taking shelter kittens only to have them drop dead of FIV or similar) or stick to a no-kill policy. Not that my foundling would have trouble being adopted out, but he'd take the place of an older cat...

Dzisiaj juz troche lepiej, chociaz maly rzadzi sie strasznie :)

Ale jednak trzy to troche za duzo na wozenie PKP do Gdanska, szczegolnie jesli ten bedzie 10 kilo wazyl :( Mam juz nagrany domek jednorodzinny na Bemowie, duza rodzina i pies, a kot im zmarl na wiosne (lat 14, czyli calkiem przyzwoicie).
