winter: (elisabeth - beauty)

So, cast for Elisabeth in Berlin is all but set. It's less dreadful than what I was fearing, but again they went for people who know the musical by heart.

Death: Uwe (who's looking and sounding very good on the promo clip) will be later replaced by Felix Martin, with Oliver Arno as understudy to both. Tried and true, but I like them both enough.

Elisabeth: Pia in the beginning, later to be replaced by Annemieke van Dam. I have to admit I'm in two minds about Annemieke - I've seen her in clips of 3 Musketiere, and while she's got great acting skills and a sweet voice, voice control could use work, and I'm not sure she's up to being first cast for such a demanding role.

Franz-Joseph: Markus Pol - he was FJ in last year's Japanese tour. Decent, though not one of my favourites. Cover's Peter Stassen, Louis and Richelieu in Stuttgart.

Rudolf: Oliver Arno - looks like a high point of the cast, judging by previous performances. I wouldn't mind seeing him as Death, either! Cover Rudolf is Martin Markert, cover on the Japan tour - looks decent, can't find any clips.

Still no news of Sophie or Max. Guess I should get around to reserving tickets...

Ooh, sounds like a pretty nice cast so far. :D I still kind of hope to go to Berlin despite the not-so-good things I've heard, but then I recently started eyeing the Japanese production opening later this year. I don't think I can go for two trips, hee.

PS. Am too lazy to send an email, but I got your discs, thanks! :D

I'm pretty sure both Uwe and Pia are lip-synching to the Essen recording, at least the performances sounds like something I've heard loads of times. The contrast to Uwe's voice there and in Die Schatten (which must be a new version since the Rudolf is new) is quite... ear-piercing. I like Uwe as an actor, he's an excellent Maxim, but he ought to have used the break in Rebecca to rest his voice, not to do another role. He sounded so bad in the Musicals Forever concert that I seriously worry he's not going to last much longer.

This Rudolf sounds good, though. And at least he and the Franz-Joseph have only done the show for a very short time previously, so if they're not new, they're still almost new. At least in those roles they didn't go for the people who everyone else knows by heart.

Annemieke and Felix will both be alternates for those roles in Berlin, and will take over as leads on the tour.

I don't think I will be able to see the Berlin version for the simple version that it will end before I have any chances of getting money. Will see about getting to see the tour somewhere, depending on financial situation.

You can tell that I've listened to this musical too much when I immediately recognize which version of someone's interpretation of a particular song I'm hearing. :P

Yeah, they're only supposed to be there for Berlin. You'll probably have a good chance at getting them in May. Or at least one of them, apparently Uwe rarely misses his performances. ;)

Are you guys talking about a video of this thing?

If so, is it new and where can I see it?
