Harry Potter and the ordinary work week

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - meh. It felt like a series of disjointed illustrations. Good ones, mind you, but there was absolutely no plot to it. Tonks didn't even get named, and don't start me on the lack of locket or Mrs Black's portrait. On the other hand, if anyone ever does "Death Eaters and Families" starring Lucius, Snape, Bellatrix and Sirius, I'm SO there.

In other news, my older cat managed to scratch my younger cat in a way that left poor Lestat with a forming boil on his front paw and fever upwards of 40 C. Guess who'll have to get him to the vet's for antibiotic injections each morning through the next week :/

I haven't seen the OotP movie yet, but... Well, if it was a series of disjointed illustrations with no plot, perhaps that just means it was based on the book. ;) Mind you, Tonks not being named is stupid, as is leaving out the locket.

I think both the books and the movies would be immensely better if they were about the previous generation, focusing on the Marauders, Snape, Bellatrix, Lucius, Narcissa, Regulus and Lily. I like the HP books, but I'm always the most excited by the parts that deal with the previous generation...

Maybe we're just not the target audience ;) But I do think the movies went a great way into expanding the older generation - Alan Rickman, Jason Isaacs and Gary Oldman are just too good at what they do.

I didn't really like Gary Oldman as Sirius, but then, I just didn't like the PoA movie on a whole, so it's probably more the fault of how he was scripted and directed. And the fact that he generally isn't the Sirius in my mind. Alan Rickman and Jason Isaacs are awesome, of course, and I look forward to seeing Bellatrix in the film, with what everyone's said about her...

I wasn't fond of Oldman in PoA as well, but in OotP he really caught the right note for Sirius - the broken rebel, living in the past kind of thing, with the charm and caring and damage there. The good thing is that both Alan and Jason get a few minutes' screentime to themselves, as monologues, that really let them shine.

Our two younger cats often scratch and bite each other in order to decide who is the alpha female. One of them even was limping for several days after one of those fights. But there were no fever so far. Poor Lestat!

Thing is, my kitties get along like a house on fire. They just play-wrestle. Sillykitties :/

I knew someone else was gonna miss that portrait. I loved that portrait! And Tonks getting what felt like one minute of cumulated screen time (and not getting named) just sucked. That, and there was a considerable "lack" in the quality of the action. Sirius getting thrown into the veil lost 90% of the emotional impact it had in the book, for example. X_X

However, Bellatrix rocked, in her overall 5 minutes screen time. And Sirius and Lucius were nice as well.

I just had this feeling that whoever wrote this movie didn't read the Half-Blood Prince, and definitely didn't get any DH hints out of JKR. Which is more than a bit silly. (Then again, it might well mean the Tonks/Lupin angle will get left out of the movies altogether. Which will make some people very happy :))

That whole Department of Mysteries scene - oh, Lucius and Bella were so much love :D And I liked Sirius to bits.

Hell, I'm only 18 and I prefer the older generation. Jason Isaacs is yum.

Did you notice how much Bellatrix's costume looked like Magda in the finale of Tanz (excluding the Warsaw version)?
