Miskolc Elisabeth

Since I know at least three people on my list will be interested in this:
Elisabeth - 1999 Miskolc DVD
I just got my hands on this DVD, and it's squee-ful in the extreme. The quality's good - some tape artefacts, but not enough to impair viewing (about on a par with the Scheveningen proshot, I'd say), sometimes a fractionally muffled sound, and good closeups. But that's not what makes me squee.
Elisabeth is Kata Janza, which means crazy goodness of the pointy sort with a good voice. Lucheni's what's-his-name from the 1996 proshot, and the guy is good - very intense with an operatic voice. He doesn't look like much, but you can't tear your eyes away. I can't identify the Rudolf (quite possibly Attila Dolhai judging by photos), but he's very nice and lyrical in Schatten. Franz-Josef seems forgettable from a quick look-see, haven't listened to Sophie yet, but who cares :P
What makes the DVD, of course, is a 23-year-old Máté Kamarás as a teenage version of his later Vienna reprise of the role od Death. He pouts, he screams, and of course he makes the best of the Hungarian choreography to paw his co-stars no matter their gender. And he makes the Hungarian makeup look good. He isn't yet as good a dancer as he later was, but still lovely.
He also has the craziest, most ballet-inclined angels ever. Mischievous too - by the way he sits on his "angel throne" in Letzte Tanz, he'd landed on his backside a time or two ;)

Date: 2007-01-08 06:42 pm (UTC)(And really, wonderful, wonderful Schatten. Máté's all lyrical and he paws Attila(?) every time the choreography gives him a chance to. And when with Tamás, the jumping off the bed was almost whimsical, this time it's a predatory pounce.)

Ooh, lovely. I think I'm going to adore him. :-)

Date: 2007-01-08 07:01 pm (UTC)I dunno, I e-mailed my trader this morning, so hopefully I"ll find out exactly when he/she sent out the package or if they forgot or something. I can't imagine it taking this long since it was sent a week before the Christmas break.

Date: 2007-01-08 07:14 pm (UTC)When I talked to them, they said they'd be busy the whole month long, and it took them a few days to respond. But with that long a delay, I'd say the mail lost it.

Date: 2007-01-08 07:23 pm (UTC)And oh, I also got Musical on Ice 2003 and a Japanese production of Cats - alas not the original one with Yamaguchi, but a good-quality picture filmed from the front seats. You want any?

Date: 2007-01-09 05:34 am (UTC)I've lost my mind....
Date: 2007-01-09 05:52 am (UTC)Anyway, I have completely lost track of who knows who on my LJ list, and I'm trying to send a really late Xmas present, and I can't get ahold of twospotz. So since I have a faint glimmer of a possible link between you and her, do you happen to know her address and phone number (I don't know why they need a freakin' number, but ARGH!)?
*runs to corner to pitch a fit*
(I tried to email this to you, but it got returned - any idea why? In any case, you can respond to this via my email at fairykin at excite.com)

Date: 2007-01-09 05:59 am (UTC)Yeah, I have most of the info, but the city and province and phone number are throwing me. Gah. Hate this part of international shipping via a company. Grr.
