Creative pursuits in all the wrong venues

I'm blocked. Not in the frustration sense, but rather a semi-coma that has infected almost all my muses. The only ones hanging around are a human variant of Vlad Draculea and a Takarazuka Death from Elisabeth. Nothing interesting.

On the other hand, when fyrie was here, she brought a set of pastels and drew portraits while I watched. It didn't look that difficult, so I acquired a set for myself. It's a bit time-consuming, but seeing as I hadn't drawn anything for close to five years and was never good at it - my sense of proportions is all wrong - I think my second attempt at a portrait didn't come out too badly.




My model was Maté Kamarás in one of his Hungarian incarnations of Death in Elisabeth, and the yellow-blue theme was originally weird set lighting. Of course my first portrait attempt was a certain vampire, but Maté has the advantage of not having weird cheekbones, jawline or nose. And hey, he's also a vampire - original Vienna cast Black Vampire (first solo in Carpe Noctem) and Herbert understudy. And cute. And, uh, the guy in my icon.


So, yeah. Possibly leaving tomorrow, but I have all my requests lined up and will write them there. I'll also try to get to a net cafe more often. It's much colder now, so the trek should be easier :)

Where do you people get black paper from? It's impossible to find here! *sob sob*

Black's actually available in paper shops. Grey, I had to go to an art store to buy. I prefer white for still-lives, but there's something about gothic musicals that lends itself to black paper ;)

Honestly, I wish I could get my hands on some black paper here. But everywhere I ask, I get weird looks from clerks or pointed at cardboard stands. I don't want cardboard, damnit - I want paper.

I got lucky and found a shop that sold black card in bulk. One shop, but I live there now and they own my soul and my wallet *nod*

If I didn't have it, I don't know what I'd do. I always draw best on black card, which seems to confuse my arty friends who all seem to use white. Apparently, drawing on black is meant to be difficult.

Difficult or not, it's still lovely. Plus, it's not exactly drawing I'd use it for, but letters. I find that gel pens look particularly lovely on black.

So yeah, I suppose it's safe to say that, if I ever find it, I'll buy in bulk. Probably two 500 piece packs, or something.

Could always get you a pack, next time I'm in the shop, though I think the packs I can get come in blocks of 20 sheets of high quality card. If you just wanted paper, they probably sell it too. Plus, I'm going to the city on Monday and they have a bigger art shop :)

I'm pretty much broke right now, so the earliest I can pay is mid-September anyway. So it's really no rush.
Just tell me... how much is a 20-sheet block? And do ask about the paper.

Also, please keep in mind that Paypal doesn't exist in Romania, so I'll likely have to send the money as concealed cash, or through Western Union. Let me know if that's ok

The card is only a few pounds, maybe 3 at most. Paper would probably be even cheaper :) Will look into it and let you know.
