Quentin Tarantino was clearly smoking something.

It's no secret I hated the first Kill Bill movie. There was no balance to it, not enough characters who could make me care about it. Kill Bill Volume 2? I loved.

I'm still wondering why the hell Tarantino didn't make this a single movie. Two hours thirty, forty tops. Cut the lengthy bits, like Beatrix' escape from the hospital and most of the Tokyo thing. Cut Sophie, since she's useless. Keep Gogo for flavour, and the more picturesque Crazy 88 members.

In other words, get rid of the first movie. The second one rocks. David Carradine especially: that man's got the voice, a cool intensity mixed with tiredness, a dramatic range to hell and back. Things make sense, this time around. Timing's good, the balance is mostly there, you find yourself relating to the characters.

Bloody relating. That's what was missing in Volume 1.

Favourite moment would have to be the mock-gunfight.

And the muses' favourite moment? No contest. Everyone who hung around went "whee" at the eyeball scene ^__^

Eyeball scene. Ah, yeah. Incidentally, I've been informed that Rodriguez helped write parts of the second film. Perhaps that's why, since he definitely has a better grip on character development, and which secondary characters are really necessary.

Thanks again for the b-day wishes.
