A very happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] fyrie :) And do you know it's a year and 4 days since our first contact online? (Not to mention two months and two weeks since you first mentioned the idea for Carpe :D) *snugs her partner in crime*

And people. Remember that awesome vampire soap opera melodramatic relationship series she's writing? Go read the newest installments: Divergence and Things Fall Apart. Coming up: the story that, back in early April, traumatised my Herbert beyond belief.

Has it been that long already? On both counts? :D (Seriously? I mean 100,000 words of fic in 2 months? How is my keyboard still intact? Not to mention all those comments...)

And it would probably just terrify anyone who happened to get a glimpse of it :D I think now, we afford ourselves an evil chuckle ;)

(Squee! I can't wait to see it all together :D)

Oh, you have to write the Herbert-assassination attempt! :D Or wouldn't that fit in the nanny sequence somewhere, with crazy Slayer-nanny?

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] fyrie

Incidentally, in my File Management test I had last night, I had twenty minutes or so to spare at the end of the exam, so I used it to look up first 'Taniec Wampirow' (sp?) and then 'Dance of the Vampires' on Wikipedia. I'd been unaware that, in the New York version of the show, Michael Crawford actually plays Krolock.
Crawford is definitely a talented chap, but I really can't see him in the role! Okay, he did play the Phantom of the Opera back in the eighties, and was excellent, but a vampire?
Found a nice picture of Lukas Dziedzic (okay, probably totally the wrong spelling there!) about to romance Sarah, although can't remember where.

Thanks :D

Re. Michael Crawford playing the role - he's the reason that the show bombed so horrifically. He didn't want VK to be another Gothic Phantom-like role that would haunt him forever, so he made it into a sickeng comedy pantomime, which completely ignored the spirit of the European productions.

The Broadway audiences went WTF? and wondered why it was so popular in Europe, because it was that badly done. Plus, they depended on lame visual gags and stupid jokes and it was, all in all, a travesty. You can tell Polanski wasn't involved. Something tells me he would have nixxed the rocket-powered coffin and the phallic-shaped sponges from the word go.

Also, Steve Barton who played VK in Vienna was meant to be the NYC Von Krolock, but unfortunately died before the show came to pass :(

From the pictures I've seen of Steve Barton, he looks so much better for the role than Michael Crawford!

And his voice! Oh good lord, his voice is incredible. I've heard some of the english samplers he did before he died and he reduces me to a quivering puddle. Heck, he reduced me to a quivering puddle when he was singing in German. And it turns out that my VK is utterly the Viennese Krolock, judging on videos I saw after I started writing him :D

Funny to see him in costume but without the striking black wig! Nice photos :-)
