I used to give out my cell phone number to a few friends, just in case. But that was two phone numbers ago, so... well. Might not work anymore. A pity LJ's text message feature doesn't work for Austrian providers. That would make it so much easier.
Does your provider offer a mail-to-sms gateway (most of them do)? That's how I got my LJ texts working despite my provider being unsupported - I entered "Other" as service provider and the e-mail address that gets messages to my mobile instead of the phone number (ie, 48xxxxxxxxxx@text.plusgsm.pl, since I've a phone with Plus GSM).
Mine doesn't seem to offer it. Discount provider. *sigh* I'll send them a service request, though, so in case they're simply hiding it well I should know tomorrow.
