Meme of loneliness
May. 3rd, 2006 03:34 pmSomeone's gone off to have fun and left me with a thesis to write :P Predictably, in my desperation for non-vampire-related I finally gave in to a certain meme.
Comment on this entry and I will give you a letter. Write ten words beginning with that letter in your journal, including an explanation what the word means to you and why, and then pass out letters to those who want to play along.
mayoini gave me B.
1. Brown - a colour with which I have a love-hate relationship. Right now my hair is back to what can be roughly called brown, but no way is it my natural ash mousyness; it's dark, with reddish highlights and golden undertones, and it finally suits my skin well.
2. Books - are sometimes more important than the air I breathe. I have well over a thousand volumes in my tiny room alone; I buy about 4 per month on average, not counting English ones and Amazon orders and what-have-you, not to mention ones I re-read and what I read online.
3. The blood is the life :P And yes, intellectual kink. Give me a good vampire biting scene and you can fade to black before clothes start coming off.
4. Broadway - combines my love for music with actual melody and rhythm with my penchant for art that tells a story. I don't obsess often, but showtunes in general are pleasant to the ear and earworms that stick with you.
5. Bards - another musical love of mine. A guy with a gravelly voice and a barely tuned guitar makes me go all melancholy and happy and settling in to listen for hours at a time. My favourites are Okudzhava, Vysotsky and Cohen, but I'm willing to listen to anyone.
6. Baroque - defines a lot of my aesthetic. I love the strange, the opulent, the deformed. Because I tend to cross-section it, slice and dice and layer with grime and blood, I sometimes wonder whether Baroque Punk might not be a good term for some of my more intricate pieces.
7. Bracelets - a relatively recent jewelry love of mine. I used to have a few but never wear them. That's changed in the past 6 months or so, though. I mostly wear large, often male-oriented bracelets that draw attention to how slender my wrists are. The most recent acquisition is a charm bracelet with a robot, a spider and two skull charms (one being a Jolly Roger). It works very well with my black silicone NIHILISM wristband.
8. Beauty - lies in the eye of the beholder, though some rules are universal (symmetry, elegance, cleanliness). I believe everyone has something beautiful about them, even if it's just the way they hold their heads sometimes, when they think.
9. Beast - is never as far from the surface as people would like to think. Especially in my case. I tend to growl at people.
10. Black - is mostly a coincidence. It's easy, it makes things look good in contrast, and it lends more sophistication than colours. I'm still not quite sure how I ended up with a 95% black wardrobe for the past 10 years or so.
Also, despite the fact she left me in utter despair,
fyrie still rocks for writing vampire Christmas fluff - next part of her Carpe Noctem crossover Buffy/Tanz series. As usual, the chapter includes scenes that left me flailing. Hints - alley, ring, Herbert/Spike=OTP^infinity.
