For the slash writer's publishing dream

This is probably old news to anyone seriously looking to publishing their original slash, but Torquere Press looks like a nice outfit. They publish original LGBT fiction in various genres, including Fantasy/SF, Supernatural, Mystery and Historical. They published two stories by the brilliant evremonde, who was kind enough to bring them to my attention. Legit, aboveboard, and accepting unagented electronic submissions of everything from short stories to serialised novels. Paid, too, anything from $10 for reprints of short stories to 30% of the cover price for novels.

Note to self: write something original, dammit. High time to start making money off this hobby.

I think the same thing these days. Though I don't think Dracula and Leroux's Phantom are copyrighted.

They're not - I just got another copy of Dracula (managed to either lose my original one or lend it to some filthy book thief) today, and no copyright on the text itself :) And my Leroux edition doesn't have one either. Quite conveniently.

Once you plug all the holes between, say, Vlad meeting Erik and Mina being turned, I think you might want to start looking for a publisher. If Susan Kay and Elizabeth Kostova could do it, why not you?

I did Vlad meeting Erik http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2841461/1/ but didn't do Mina being turned or Erik actually being turned yet. I'm going to be writing my Phantom-Dracula universe into a novel this summer. I have to get a POV and plug all the holes in the storyline but I do think I have enough for several books at this point (since my 29 short stories cover 100 years).

I remember that meeting fic (and gods, young Erik is quite adorable with the maturity and insolence in the face of a supposed mortal threat, isn't he?). I was just suggesting that those two events might make a good timeframe for the first volume of your Dracula&Phantom bestselling series :)

I think I know how it's going to go. I'm starting from Erik's Guest http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1428142/1/ and go right to Dracula bringing a pregnant Mina back to live at the Opera House. This would cover the death of all of the vampire hunters (well, except for Arthur, he's book #2)and the suicide of Harker.

The meeting with Erik and Vlad would be done as flashback as well as how Christine's father got his violin http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1971645/1/

Book #2 would deal with Qunicey growing up under the Opera House,Mina's transformation and them coming to NYC.

Later books could include Lucy's daughter.

should be Dracula's daughter, Lucy in present times. And then, I could also start writing from there.
