The parents sent their kids in for things that didn't exist. Spent the morning shift trying to explain to confused kids that you can't actually buy a tin of elbow grease.

It's a typical thing. I remember at school kids were sent to other teachers to get a "long stand" and were left standing in the room for half an hour.

BTW, random note since I'm browsing through my Tanzfics and deciding which one to write: what do you think Alfred's last name should be? So long all I have is Schmidtke, but that's awfully prosaic.

He's studying at Königsberg, so with that name I'm betting either German/Prussian or Kashubian (local natives, think a mix of German and Slavic influences, generally German-ish last names). I don't want to get too poetic, since I think he's not nobility, but am stuck for good surnames. Hofmann, maybe?

But somehow they're not in my head yet :/ Well, Sarah is, but Alfred's just whimpering in the corner, and I need him to have POV. Sarah's too easily distracted.

I think we'll have a chapter after the one I'm working on before they show, just for relationships and interaction stuff in the new homestead (there's another reason to move back to the castle - easier to find :D)

BTW, wonder if they're still (or again) keeping all the old junk in the castle, possibly in secret passages and chambers. VK and Herbert must have accumulated several tons of souvenirs over four centuries of living mostly in the same place...

They've got a lot of their old toys stashed away, although a large section of the library was moved to the manor. While the castle was commandeered and they had to stash away stuff in different places, they kept most of it :)

Am re-reading what I managed last night and I'll be trying to kick-start my kids in a second :) I did get some stuff for the injured!Dawn chapter too, pre-sleep, so I need to toss that into word as well.
