Streetartig [VIGNETTE, G]

winterAn original vignette, 186 words. This is what happens when I re-read Sandman one too many times.
STREETARTIG

In the silver reverse twilight when the streetlights shine no longer and the sun hovers just under the artificial horizon of the city's concrete canyons, Anton spreads his magic over the cold stone walls of the highrises. Under his touch, colourful flowers spring to life on the gray and blue and white and black.
The flowers melt into the stone as the sun strikes them. When the first people - the milkmen and the bus drivers and the woman who reads the traffic bulletins on the radio, her pale hair silver in the dawn light - walk by, the walls are again gray and blue and white and black. But if you look out of the corner of your eye, turning your head very, very quickly, you can see the flowers. There are no other such flowers on Earth. But you still remember how they smell. Don't you?
And on the tallest tower, which climbs the air in tiers of pompous pseudo-baroque granite, a horse with an eagle's head and a snake's tail.
Smiling with a beak is hard. But Anton smiles.
