Narnia finally hit the cinemas in this backwater this weekend.

Bloody hell. Why didn't anyone tell me to bring a handkerchief to the cinema? I'm lucky my mascara didn't smudge :/

About the only thing that sucked about this movie was the cameo of Dracula's Get from Van Helsing as a very sorry excuse for a vampire. Jadis-in-my-mind will always have dark hair, but that's about it.

(Also, to the King Arthur fans on the f-list: you are aware that was Bors as Mr Beaver, right? >:D)

Fic inspirations: Susan, Tumnus, Oreius, RupertEverett!Fox.

(In other news, ugh. I want a free weekend for once :/)

Mr Beaver has a bit of a reputation in the uk as a hardman like an evil bob hoskins, so we got stuck with the image of him saying "Aslan you slag, you wanna slap, you slag." it added immeasurably to the film.

I died laughing when I heard Ray Winstone was Beaver. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] tybalt_quin, I remember him for Scum and the immortal line "Who's'ya daddy?". I can never look at Mr and Mrs Beaver the same way after that :D (Especially when Mrs Beaver is the Vicar of Dibley...)

Also, Oreius made me squee so so much :D

Last thing I saw Tumnus in gave me an interesting POV of him - He was playing MacBeth with his regular accent of 'proper' Scottish and the programme started with him opening a fridge and the light illuminating him clad in nothing more than black leather trousers ;) You could practically hear ovaries exploding up and down the country :D

It wasn't the best adaptation, but it was worth it just for that moment. Mind you, the adaptation of Taming of the Shrew, with Rufus Sewell and Shirley Henderson from the same series of updates was freaking brilliant. Those two are perfect together and Rufus Sewell in drag on their wedding day had me in stitches :)
