The Brothers Grimm, and other matters

First of all, happy birthday to imadra_blue! And apologies to people who deserve them - I've been a complete disaster about getting things done lately >_<

Took off a few hours from sleeping and reading today in order to go see Terry Gilliam's The Brothers Grimm - just the slightly-nightmarish extravaganza of supreme set decorations and acting skills I'd expected it to be. Worth seeing if only for the way Matt Damon looks (un-bloody-recognizable) and Jonathan Pryce's French Accent.

Am still unhappy with it, though, because THEY KILLED A KITTEN. A soft fluffy white persian one, and FSCK you don't do that and get away with it. So a warning to sensitive people: when they come back from the forest that first time, that's a good time for a bathroom break. Nothing important happens in that scene anyway.

In other news: I actually use "fsck" as a real-life expletive. Am geek^n. Also, Wednesday's Vampires would have the second Krolock - as in, not the one I have the hots for - so I'm selling off those tickets.

NaNo: Part 7 and skirting the edge of keeping up with schedule, but still ahead by a grand total of 16 words. Have got to write more tomorrow.

The scene with the kitty was horrendous! :((

I can't really remember the movie; only that it was enjoyable at the time but no great shakes.

I could have maybe lived with it if Cavaldi got to die in a particularly horrendous way. But they redeemed him, and some things are just unreedeemable :///

It's a fun two hours with good acting, though no message or anything. Terry Gilliam showing off how good he is, and that's that.

It's on my list of films to see after I'm done with placement because, hey, it's got Monica Bellucci and Jonathan Pryce in it, YAY.

Monica gets a little shorted, but Jonathan Pryce is brilliant :) So's Peter Stormare, and just about all the other actors. Matt Damon has to be seen to be believed.

Poor kitten. I actually did want to see that movie; I was already joking with my brother about how Brothers Grimm slash will start popping up, brothers or no. Fandom amuses him, see. XD And btw, I'm horrible about commenting, but go you for your NaNo work so far. Good luck on the est of it!

"Brothers or not"? Come on, there was a canon accusation of buggery and Jacob all ready to give Will the "kiss of true love". If fangirls didn't run away with that, I'd be very disappointed in the state of online fandom...

Now, I like kittens. I like cartoon kitties so much that my little sis is calling me Sakaki-san. And I still cheered at that scene, because I'm sick to my heart of cute pets in movies surviving earthquakes, volcano explosions, alien invasions and sinking ships unscathed :P

Thanks for the warning regarding Brothers Grimm! I was considering seeing it sometime, but not now. (Being a cat lover, and persians especially).

It's a more-than-decent movie, just, you know, with fast-forwarding through that scene. It's nothing graphic - a kitten walks around and scares the later-redeemed villain, who kicks it into a Napoleonic-era torture instrument most resembling a blender. Weird sound and a patch of fur lands on the general's face, and that's all. But still. Grr. Kitty. :/

Oh, and P.S.: No idea what the second Krolock looks like, but he's NOT Lukasz Dziedzic of the fallen-angel voice. No way am I paying nearly $50 to see someone who's NOT Dziedzic, especially since I had front-row seats :P

(Actually, I would have gone, had I not had tickets for Saturday as well. No need to go that crazy if the guy I'm crazy for is not there ;))
