NaNo update
Nov. 12th, 2005 05:00 pmI finally posted the gigantic chapter 4, and updated the sidebar with new characters to boot.
You may notice that Chapter 4 is almost six thousand words long. And if I hadn't wussed out of writing all the council dialogue, it could easily have been twice that. But the longer I think about it, the more I'm convinced it was the right decision. There are just too many people in the room and too much information to detail everything - what's needed are the things that impact Rachel directly.
Rachel is turning out a nice if unpredictable narrator; she's got a mothering streak a mile deep, she's completely in denial about some of her emotions, and with each chapter the snake is getting closer to being explained. And then there's her sexuality, with which she's completely open. The flirting with Genevieve took me by surprise, that's for sure.
The next chapter is nothing but pure Kirill/Rachel relationshippy goodness, with many homages to Tanz der Vampire and Der Unstillbare Gier. Which, considering the ending of Chapter 4, should be interesting.
Oh, and did I mention I'm all caught up with the wordcount?

Date: 2005-11-12 08:51 am (UTC)Yep, I'm LJ lite right now. Posting chapters for folks who have time to read, but I'm not expecting fellow-nanos to have *time* to read my stuff right now. December, I'll catch up and hopefully offer commentary.

Date: 2005-11-12 09:11 am (UTC)I'm the same. I think I'll have to just print out everything, otherwise I'll never catch up. At least work's only until New Year, so I might have a bit of free time after that.
