Star Wars: Clone Wars, season 1

I've just gotten my hands on the first season of Clone Wars. Cartoon Network showed it dubbed here, and I just can't watch stuff I know in original dubbed, so I hadn't seen it before. This is less a review than a series of loose remarks and inspirations.
Overall: lovely characterization and design, great Star Wars fun. The two jarring things were some replaced voices and the fact that at times they overdid it at the bad-assedness of certain characters (Mace Windu, I'm looking at you). Still, mreeeow.
Specific remarks:
Chapter 1:
Palpatine's fingers clicking like spiders. I want to glomp an animator right now :D
I doubt even Master Qui-Gon could have prepared a Jedi for this. >:D
Chapter 3:
All right, I'm knocked dead. Red Commander says a whole one line, but that's the way to do characterization by actions only. Perfect Fett personality.
Chapter 5:
The Quarren on Dooku's side? Paging Admiral Ackbar, casting for "What Remains" starts in ten...
Chapter 6:
Meh. I thought Ventress would be cooler. Also, in a universe that has her and Mara Jade, Ador&co have no fear of warping canon by their existence ;)
Chapter 7:
Dooku. Flying. Darling, you left your vampire teeth in the other cape <3
Sith have no fear. *plotbunnies*
Also, canon precedent for Sidious allowing Dooku to have a disciple. While I'd still like for Sidious not to be aware of certain matters, this means he can know of Qui-Gon's survival, just not of all that's been taught to Darth Jinn :>
Chapter 8:
The fight is vaguely ridiculous, but the concept of forcefield shields used in a lightsaber fight bears examining. The Sith Junior League is in need of fighting gimmicks.
Chapter 9:
I repeat - Red Commander rocks. Also, Obi-Wan seems to have a fondness for clones ;)
Chapter 14:
Luminara's voice is fascinating in the way it impacts her character. It's not the kind of voice you'd associate with someone who looks like her, which is what makes it interesting.
Where do the Sith get their lightsaber crystals, hmm?
Cloaking droids. So much for the Imperials' "no ship that small can have a cloaking device". I wonder when exactly that technology was lost...
Chapter 15:
Yoda, the captain and Padme? Okay, that was funny.:)
Chapter 16:
Methinks Yoda still doubts Dooku's will to destroy the Jedi. Also, my Dooku is strangely reluctant to discuss his old master... Hmm.
Chapter 17:
The fact that Anakin sees Arfour killed and then IT'S WAR is adorable.
Chapter 19:
OMG - red lightsaber - Qui-Gon - rage - scream! Okay, this one was seriously cool ^_^
Now to fight certain servers and make them give me some Season 2.

Date: 2005-08-19 10:54 am (UTC)I haven't gotten all the episodes downloaded yet, but did Palpatine strike you as Mr. Burns from "The Simpsons" there?
Also, Obi-Wan is clone trooper armor -- ridiculously hot for a toon!
The only problem I have is that the toons make the Jedi so cool and competent, that they actually look like wimps in RotS!
More later when I've got them all downloaded.

That's my problem, too - okay, less with the Dooku-flying, because after all he does do that showy somersault in ROTS. But this is the Mace Windu who got pwn3d by Palpatine? Please.

Date: 2005-08-22 10:38 am (UTC)And I'm impressed with the voice actors. The guy for Anakin doesn't sound much like Hayden Christiansen, but he's got Anakin's petulance down right. The guy doing Obi-Wan I occasionally mistook for MacGregor, because *he* has Obi-Wan's cadaneces down PERFECTLY... so amazing.

Date: 2005-08-22 11:13 am (UTC)The voices bugged me at first, especially Dooku's, but the guy doing Anakin got the acting just right. Obi-Wan sounded maybe more like Alec Guinness than MacGregor... which was even better.

Date: 2005-08-20 02:59 pm (UTC)Yeah, Obi-Wan did good with his clone-troopers. I think he and Cody liked each other, which makes the Order66 thing give me all sorts of nasty aftermath plot-bunnies.
Heh buff guys look good in armor. Obi-Wan, the clones, the guards, etc. :D

Excellent work.
A request/possible plotbunny...
what would have happened had Anakin slain Dooku at that first duel, if he was able to hold out enough?
