It's just that I've had bad experiences before. In one fic, the first part of a series, I had three OC appearances. One male had one line and a paragraph of narration from his POV, the other got half the fic devoted to a conversation between him and the canon character. Between the two was a female with three lines of utilitarian dialogue. An enthusiastic review I got ended with "I think I might be able to tolerate [female character] as well." For another story, which utilized a very minor character, I got the following gem: "I thought the woman was an original and I'm glad to be proven wrong". People are paranoid about OCs :S
