Ah, love the irony. And this ficlet, and your brain. I'm not sure who, but I remember reading a comment when AotC was released that one of the surprises to fandom was that the Republic wasn't conquered by the Empire, it became the Empire, and the Separatists were actually the seed of the Rebellion. And of course no one later would have been aware of the secret Dooku/Palpatine alliance.
