set the night on fire
Jan. 24th, 2006 10:35 pmWhen was the last time you've seen a double standing ovation, two encores, more flowers than the performers could carry, screams and tears and people clapping until the performers had to beg the crowd to let them go...
...at a classical music concert?
Joshua Bell, my cat's favourite violinist, and Frederic Chiu, who both looks and plays the piano like a genteel Chinese vampire. From Mozart to Saint-Saƫns, with fire and fancy and joy like I've never heard before. I thought I'd never like Bartok, but then I hadn't heard him played hard enough to break the bow string. And then they just had to play Tchaikovski as one of the encores, so I'll have to buy Joshua's new Tchaikovski CD.
If they ever make a good movie of The Vampire Lestat or Anne Rice's Violin, Joshua should play the violin pieces. That's how good he is.
Fun to see all the high-class people squeeing and jumping up and down, too :D
I have the next three days off work. FINALLY.
