Olympics: Men's figure skating

Well, that was predictable. But still, gotta love a guy who goes out on ice and doesn't look like any of what he does takes real effort, and still manages to be perhaps the only guy who doesn't make any mistakes at all.

Apart from the Plushchenko love, highlights included Joubert's Riverdancing On Ice, Savoie's entire program (pretty!) and Buttle's lovely classic ballet - Buttle's second place in the free skate is certainly well-deserved. Also, there was this first moment in Takahashi's program, that little bow he did at the very beginning, that was very charming indeed. I'm just sorry for Lambiel - he's really good, but he overreached himself and when he finished, you could see he was just so angry about it all.

(In case you're interested: got an A in my exam, then came home and slept for 5 hours. One of these days, I'll get a healthy reaction to stress.)

Oooh. It looks like LJ added a draft post autosave. Nifty!

Congratulations on the exam!

And I normally am not a Plushenko fan at all, but tonight he was the only one who actually deserved a medal.

I think everybody in the last group fell, aside from Plushenko. Lambiel didn't even do the triple axle and still came second. *sigh*

Hurrah for the A!

I only watched a bit of the men's figure skating... some guy with bad acne. Why did they keep zooming in on his forehead?!

Well done on the exam :D

And finally, finally managed to catch some figure skating. My teen sister heartily approved of the tight outfits and I adored the French chap :)

Joubert's dancing was brilliant. I loved the fact he got the crowd clapping along with him and looked like he was doing it for them, as opposed to just doing it for the medal. Plus, the fact he wasn't exactly hard on the eyes made it even less of a challenge ;)

I loved Weir's! The way the ruffles moved was far too fascinating, although my initial reaction was "bahaha! That's more ruffles than my dignity would let me wear!". And the way the light played on Takahashi's had me mesmerised even more than his perkiness.

Of course, skaters can pull off anything, if it's tight and slinky enough. Although whoever designed the tiger-striped one deserves a smack on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper. The colours clashed far too horribly.

The tiger one I wouldn't have minded so much if they had at least colour-co-ordinated the whole ensemble. The artist in me was staring in horror so much that I didn't even notice half of his routine. Purple, orange, black, white and sky blue? What where they thinking?

Agreed on the others, but I will readily admit I adored the Canadian chap's outfit. It was fabulous with the poofy sleeves and admirably tight pants ;)

That's the one :) I'm abysmal with names, especially when it's a case of "would you look at the legs on that?". My sister was amusing to observe throughout, because she made a kind of squeaky noise and tipped sideways when they did a closeup on him :D
