*facepalms* So, from the horse's mouth. Remember that Snowflake Cookie free v-gift that everyone was sending around?

It's what broke notifications, because there's a default setting of ON for "get notified when one of your friends receives a virtual gift". The Snowflake got made available free to everyone by a glitch (*cough* there's a reason I was sending them around last year at St Nick's) and suddenly everyone and their dog was sending it to people. Which generated notifications to the f-lists of people who got them. Lots of notifications. The sending system hid under the bed and refused to come out.

Notifs are getting processed now, but they're also still building up. At the height of it, the number reached 12 million ~_~ Ops are on it and have managed to kickstart the sending, but it might take a while for all of them to clear up.

So Now You Know.

Oh wow, thanks for the headsup! Yeah I just got about thirty thousand emails, so I'm glad it seems that notifications are picking up again. ♥

Bwhahahahaha! I knew it! The snowflakes broke LJ! *very much amused*

What's funny is that I was getting v-gifts notifications, but not comment notifications. ^^;;;;

Me too, which was extremely irritating, because I don't care who gets a snowflake and I should have the option turned off, and I do care about getting my comment notifications.

Yeah, their explanation was pretty clear about that. The good part is, I'm getting notifications for comments left last night this morning, which is progress from where I'm standing. *nod nod*

With, me, the issue was I had almost missed out on an important message someone left on an older entry. Luckily I checked manually after seeing comments pop up on the drabbles, but not in my inbox.

Yeah, they're coming in faster! Whoot!

I switched to plain old email use instead of PMs for the past two days. What do you know, that still works! XD

Thanks for the pointer! I really wish they'd make new posts instead of editing old ones. *sighs*

I know - they always get yelled at, no matter what. Still, having to check back all the time in the hopes there might be an update this time is really a pain.

Ohhhhh thank you! I was wondering, I just thought it was one of those LJ things >>;

Yeah someone sent me two of those cookies and since around the 5th my comments have not been working. Luckily since I have been out and about and trying to clean my house to sell it, I've noticed it, but it's not been a huge problem.

BTW I have been thinking of you and I'm sorry I've not been good about commenting, things have just been very overwhelming here. You don't realize how much you own until you suddenly have to pack up your house and make it look like people who are not you live in your house. ie people who are neat and people who do not collect random crap

No, I really understand, I still remember what it was like right before we lost Nutmeg. Now any time one of my cats shows the slightest bit of sickness I tend to freak out. I was really anxious when we brought Basil in for his radiation therapy. Fortunately, he seems OK now, but I also know at some point something is going to happen since Cookie is now 15 and Basil turns 14 in April. I don't think my family has managed to have a cat past 15 before. We lost Marmalade to cancer at 14. They've definitely slowed down, especially Cookie who spends the majority of the day sitting on the couch sleeping.

=____= ;;I wondered why I got so many notifications of other people receiving gifts.

Thank you for letting me know of the chaos.
