Dance of the Vampires
You know how people are crazy about Phantom of the Opera, or Cats, or other musicals? I think I'm crazy for Dance of the Vampires. Because I definitely need to see this at least twice more.
The guys at Roma really outdid themselves. The scenography, costumes and lighting are all superb. The cast rocks - all the lead actors are younger than me, and they're all GAH. The guy playing Duke Krollock (lead vampire) has the ideal Phantom's voice - honest, I have a recording of the first Krollock song done by Michael Crawford, and Lukasz Dziedzic is better. He has this presence - when he first appeared, he walked in the audience, unlit, and he just strode, so commanding and alluring and let's not forget bedecked in long black hair and a cape that was drool-worthy all by itself. Also, that man knows how to work that cape. Mrreow.
The music is less repetitive than I feared it would be - I love the idea of the professor singing in Gilbert-and-Sullivan pastiches. And yes, Total Eclipse of the Heart appears in its entirety, but that's because it fits so perfectly. I think Steinman wrote it so long ago and finally found the play to put it in. The only other straight quote is Meat Loaf's Objects in the Rear-View Mirror, but that too fits very well, and Krollock sings it with such emotion that I may have sniffled once or twice.
And the slash? Oh dear gods, the slash. There is actual gay sex happening (well, symbolically pantomimed) on stage, twice. Once including a shirtless dancer-muscled vampire with long dark hair. And Duke Krollock's son Herbert is a FLAMING GAY VAMPIRE DRACO MALFOY. In blue satin. So much love <3
To sum it up, I need more tickets, the soundtrack and possibly a badge. And Krollock's autograph.
And my Mom says Herbert acted totally like me when I'm angry. So: when I'm angry, I act like a flaming gay aristocratic vampire. Go me :D

(and I didn't even go into the finale, when everyone wears leather! Or the dancing, or the gratuituous Phantom of the Opera rip-offs. Or the sponge, come to think of it.)
