Blond blind swordsman love

I just got back from seeing Zatoichi.

Ahem.

SQUEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

Right. I'm just wondering if I'm not the only one who noticed the interplay between the original Zatoichi movies (which I haven't seen, but Mom's seen a few, so the blind masseur featured in my bedtime stories when I was an ickle bloodthirsty kitten), the Rutger Hauer movie "Blind Fury" (which was on some layers a US remake of the Zatoichi concept) and this movie. I can't help but think of Kitano's blond hair and blue eyes in this one as a kind of homage ^_^

If you liked Kenshin, or old samurai epics in general, or yakuza movies, or... or just want two hours of FUN, go see it.

(Anyone up for accompanying me for a second bout of squeeing? ^_^)

I still think the best thing Takeshi Kitano has done is Takeshi's Castle. :D

Squeeee! It's the geta tap-dancing at the end which really won me over. Love this movie!

Sorry, nothing to do with anything, could you remind me how to pronounce Szajnowski? He's my old tutor from uni, need to contact him 9 years later, can't remember how to pronounce it ;)

Very delayed comment, but yes, Zatoichi is definitely squee-worthy. Saw it last year at the Cambridge Film Festival, I think, and the tap-dancing is definitely one of the best bits, but there were so many other good bits. Takeshi Kitano just rocks, really.
