A philosophical question
What does one write about in Livejournal when there's nothing to write about that would be interesting to other people?
In the past few days I've managed to crack a tooth, break two nails, learn the basics of financial modelling, start arranging the four days I'll spend in Berlin in June (watching dancing vampires, of course) and chat a bit with
fyrie. Work's taking up a large enough chunk of my mind that I don't have much energy left once I go home - enough to write a bit of our RP/collaborative fiction thing, read the comms I follow, and that's about it. About the only interesting thing in my real life is that I'm going to the last audition stage of the Moniuszko vocal competition on Saturday. I'm tentatively arranging to buy a Takarazuka DVD via a friend, but again, that's not of interest to anyone.
I don't see any points about meta, I'm not watching/reading/listening to anything that'd constitute a fandom other people follow, and what writing creativity I have is engaged by the aforementioned RP/collaborative fiction thing.
I'm seriously entertaining the idea of taking up drawing again just so I'll have something to post that other people can poke fun at.

(Also, have worked out prologue and epilogue of Edouard's story :D)

(Besides, I have a feeling that once you graduate, life will get in the way of quite this volume of RP, anyway.)

(True, alas)

(And really, the RP's given me tons writing-wise. Experience writing new character types, new scenes, writing-on-demand basically...)

And I maybe should try that sort of thing, too. I've been horribly writer's blocked lately.

Btw, have you actually read Julia Cameron's "The Artist's Way"? I'm wondering whether to order it.

I read "The Artist's Way" and worked through it a couple of years ago, that's what got me started on the morning pages. I simply loved it - in fact, in the stage of my life then, it both helped me in my writing and pretty much saved my mental health. It's hard to say whether everyone will find it equally useful, it probably depends on who you are and what's going on in your life at the moment. But the exercises are in any case helpful in exploring your creativity, and I don't know anyone who didn't like it. I also liked her "The Right to Write", lots of exercises and encouraging talk about writing.

Also, I envy your travelling plans. Though I will get myself to Berlin at some point, just not sure yet when. Btw, do you already have a hotel reserved? Because my father is going to Berlin next week and he's staying in a hotel that is at the same street as the theatre and fairly cheap. If it turns out to be any good, I could recommend it.

I'm staying in a hotel that's near Tiergarten and I'm paying 40 euro per night for a double ensuite with breakfast, so it's kind of hard to beat :) We're generally planning on a lot of sightseeing and shopping...
no subject
And that certainly sounds good! Hmm, would you let me know the name of the hotel so I can compare that and my father's hotel for when I go there, whenever it will be.

http://www.berlin-hotel-sickingerhof.de - but their rates there are higher. I went through Booking.com and just like with Vienna, I got a sizeable discount through them :) I have to admit I'm kind of enamoured of the service, since their customer service is also stellar - I had a slight issue and I got a reply in Polish, explaining everything, and they even contacted the hotel for me :)

Thanks! Booking.com seems to be very useful for this kind of stuff.
Bah, I want to go and travel - I wonder if I could afford it. Stupid being stuck here on the edge of Europe where it's a lot more trouble and cost to travel to interesting places. Though of course it's better than being stuck on another continent...

And I'd rather not do the trial, though some individual stories pre- and post- might be good. It makes sense to have it be the big thing everyone only alludes to :)

Plus, I don't think I could rein Ildri in and make hir behave for it.

I thought that was considered a blasphemous question in the Land of Blog?
FWIW, I agree with your sentiment, but there seems to be a lot of things that could be made interesting even in the short snippet above. Why do you want the Takarazuka DVD? Is it good? What is it about? What's the Moniuszko vocal competition about - not "Polish Idol" I hope?
Anyway, while there's no deatch of subjects to write about - there never is - I get a feeling it's more limited by the two constant enemies: Time and Energy.
Would you have T&E to draw?
no subject
I think half the problem is because I write so much between work and the RP, I'm kind of burned out on it. Drawing is something I want to get better at, so it's a technical effort rather than a creative one. Plus I've just learned to draw noses facing forward - which is much harder than it sounds, IMHO.

good luck if you decide to draw again. I can't draw:(
