On biographies

I've been reading a lot of biographies lately. I liked Brigitte Hamann's Kaiserin wider Willen about the Empress Elisabeth so much that I think I'll be buying it - in the original German since the Polish edition is sold out (wish me luck with understanding it!). I'm also very tempted by her biography of the Crown Prince, since I could get it for cheap. Also in German, because it hasn't been translated into any civilised language. Oops?

Now I'm reading François Bluche's biography of Richelieu and I have to say it's not very good as far as biographies go - disjointed facts without either chronological or thematic order, not to mention a haphazard translation that's not helping things.

Can anyone maybe recommend a good Richelieu biography? In English, Polish, French or German, in order of preference :)

(And artaxastra, um... kind of managed to lose/forget the recommendations for Wallenstein biographies you once gave me. Care to name one or two again? I think you mentioned a seminal German work...)

I think I recommended Golo Mann's Wallenstein? That's the seminal German one.
