On current fashion

Can't vampirise the LJ completely, and I do have other passions. Like shopping. And I've had a pretty productive mall trip yesterday.

So I'll just ask: how cool is it that lowrise jeans and pants are finally on their way out? I've tried on a dozen pairs, grabbed randomly from three different shops, and only three were lowrise. Even the fashionable pencil-leg jeans now come in on-the-waist varieties, one of which I acquired - my first store-bought pair of jeans in four years or more. (And no, my hatred of lowrise isn't because of modesty issues. They're just tailored - tightly - to the typical no-hips, no-waist Polish figure. I have up to a 0.7 waist-to-hip ratio. Do the math. I actually own a pair of lowrise jeans, when I found one that fit my hips...)

The other thing I really like about this season's clothing is the dandy image. Satin waistcoats, tailored shirts, chains and pearls and nonchalant attitude. I managed to find a bottle-green tailored shirt - the first one ever that fits me perfectly - at H&M, but I continue on the waistcoat quest. See hip-to-waist ratio, complaints about ~_~

Still, happiest about the jeans. Mostly because they bring my tally of pants that actually fit to four pairs. Sometimes losing weight is annoying ;)

*sighs happily* I would give my kidney if those accursed lowrise jeans weren't still so popular here. They don't make any trousers for girls of my short stature with very full hips. I feel your pain on the pants issue.

I'll pray for Europe's fashions to get to the US as soon as possible.

Note to self: Move to Europe.

And to butt in a little more...we do have H&M, but only in the very large cities: New York, Chicago, Boston, Washington, D.C., etc. If you live in a more mid-size city, you don't have access...

*nod* The great suck of living in the US (other than the politics). If you don't live in a big city, you have squat to choose from in terms of shopping.

Low-rise pants are already out of fashion in US...but I live in New York, which I know makes a difference. Give it a season, and it should start to filter through the rest of the country.

Low waist jeans are just... too low inthis country!! (._.;) But high waist jeans are also for hating only. And skinny jeans... (>_>;) They make you look terible, all looks concentrate on your wide hips... *sigh*
Perfect comfortable jeans are hard to find! :// I;m switching to skirts for summer. *sigh*

I like someting in between. Jeans that end right where top of my hip bones in front end. *nodnod* Oh yes, I agree on rurki, they are good, but those skinny jeans... (>_>;)

YAy for jeans :D

I actually tried on low-rise jeans when I was shopping with my sister. theyu fit me all right buyt they looked AWFUL because my midsection is, ah, how should we ssy.... bulgy to the extreme. So high-rise is the way for me.... :D

I sam not really looking forward to the time when I actually HAVE a waist-to-hip ratio like normal people. because I know it is under all that extra.... `*shuddrs*

Do ypou have Lindex in Poland? ecause I found a v. nice vest/waistcoat thingy tyhere... you might have some luck, too :)

Damn, now I want something like that, too... mine is just plain black cotton with dull gold buttons...

I can't wear either high-waist or low-rise well, but luckily the places where I get my pants have a nice mid-rise that's flattering.

I flat out refuse to give into the skinny jeans trend. I don't have enough tunic-style tops yet that I could get away with it :) So I'll stick with my boot-cut jeans.

Hooray on the changing fashion, and not a moment too soon. While hip-hugging pants and crop tops are great for lithe girls with flat abs, I don't think the world needs to admire my pallid, non-tight tummy. :D I feel your pain and share your joy. Happy shopping!
