A good day, and a rec

Today's been rather fine - sleeping in a bit, finally catching the first lectures in six months (damn, I miss studying!), then coffee with astarise and getting something from her that still makes me :D :D :D when I think of it, but my camera batteries are out, so no photos yes. Still, squee. (Yes, it's vamp-related.)

Also, a belated rec: for over a year, artaxastra has been posting a story that's utterly brilliant. She has managed a bittersweet tale that rings beautifully true, and at the same time grabs you by the heart. It's Aeneid, as it might have happened, as maybe it did. Now she's finished it. If you have a few spare hours of your time, the Black Ships are well worth spending it on.

EDIT: and if you haven't got artaxastra friended, in the comments to this post she has offered to friend people who want to read it :D

Ouch, I completely didn't notice that ^^;

(BTW: you're absolutely cruel about the no-OT3 thing. Also, once it's published - do you think there could be a short timeline at the end? I got confused about things at times, especially how old everyone was.)

I've been mostly able to figure out the map thing, apart from the Italy bit (well, I got Sicily), but I didn't let that bother me much. And you know that when you publish it, there will be OT3 fics galore, because damn, if not for the cultural issues, Scylla was perfect for Gull and Xandros to lure Neas away from the crowd and console him.

Btw, just out of curiosity: did Neas know about Xandros' feelings? Or was that bit secret to the end?

I am fine with OT3 fics! I can't imagine a bigger compliment than someone writing fanfic for Black Ships! And yes, they really need to "console" Neas. I can see how they could manage it too, and it would be good for all of them. But there's the small thing about her being 7 months pregnant, which might discourage Neas a little just then!

I think Neas did know about Xandros' feelings eventually. (Not at first, before Egypt, or even before Italy.) But Xandros keeps doing such a good job of getting involved with someone else everytime he and Neas are in the same place, first Ashterah, then Gull, that it makes it hard to find a time when he's free. Of course, Neas could really cope with sharing Gull with Xandros. The question is, would Lavinia share him? I see plenty of fanfic opportunities here, oh yes!
