I thought that he looked a bit old, too. Didn't they say they aimed for a younger Bond? Can't say that they hit that mark. Then again, who still cares for Bond now that Sean Connery's definitely too old to play him?
He's 37, I think, but he looks closer to 47. And dammit, he doesn't look like Bond at all. I liked Pierce Brosnan, even though he might have been a bit slick, but he was close to the Connery ideal.
Yes, well, in one of the pictures I've seen, he does look more like fifty-ish, certainly nowhere near 37. Actually, I liked him in The mother but not in Enduring love because I had imagined his character to look differently, not so fit and bulky, if that makes sense.
Anyway, I think I stopped liking Pierce Brosnan ever since he started making the Bond films, I'm not quite sure why. I agree, however, that he came quite close to the Bond ideal. And since they now haven't actually cast someone looking younger, he just might as well have done another one.
Just... too weedy. I would have much preferred Clive Owen, despite the occasional puppy eyes, because the man can at least look smooth if he puts his back into it.
Uhm...weedy definately isn't an adjective I'd use to describe Daniel Craig. ¬_¬
Anyway, I couldn't care less about the James Bond series but I'm pleased he's been cast, if only because it might get him more attention because he's a fantastic actor. He deserves to be more well-known than he is.
Meh, I only saw him in Tomb Raider. I mostly meant his face - he doesn't have much authority, nor does he look like someone living the James Bond luxury-and-danger lifestyle.
I haven't seen Tomb Raider but I don't imagine it's the sort of film that's the best show-case for his acting abilities. I've seen him in quite a few things, I've been keeping an eye on him ever since Our Friends In The North. I honestly think he could pull it off.
But whatever happens, at least we know he couldn't be worse than Lazenby. ;)
I don't know about acting skills (he was pretty decent in Tomb Raider, actually - I remember that he imbued his character with a rogue charm that was quite endearing). I'm just objecting to looks here - he looks nothing like my vision of Bond - dark-haired, and handsome in that special way.

Meh, for me it's just that he doesn't look like Bond. And Bond's all about the looks and the attitude. Plus, haven't seen him wearing clothes well yet (in two hours of googling), and that's a Bond must.
He's my father's favorite Bond (I have no idea why). I've always preferred Connery, and I actually like Timothy Dalton too.
In Road to Perdition, there are a number of shots where you can see some striking similarities between Craig's bone structure and Sean Connery's. I think he'll do well enough, though I thought Hugh Jackman would have been an awesome Bond, and part of me was rooting for Clive Owen as well.
My favourites are Connery and Brosnan, most of the time. Hugh Jackman would have been wonderful - he can do both polished and dangerous. I was also hoping for Gerry Butler to be the dark horse of the race, even though he's probably too young - that accent and the way he wears clothes!
He looked gorgeous in 'Moll Flanders'. But that was some time ago, and he had long hair (wig probably) and was dressed as a highwayman of the 'dashing and swaggering' variety. CCA
