That makes a lot of sense and is the exact same reason I'm not a fan of Romanesque Mask - unfortunately, 'zuka has a tendency to really soften intentionally awful characters/historical figures and make it all about true love when the original text/history was really about something different and perhaps equally important. I still like Romanesque Mask for the amazing acting and costumes, but its - not even missing the mark, just blatantly and pointedly avoiding the mark - makes me unable to love it.
