With the overall rush, I completely forgot to post about my new toy.

Since mid-May (just before Paris, in fact) I've been the proud owner of an HTC Desire ♥ It may be last year's model, but it's plenty fast, durable (I managed to get it caught out in the rain and drop it on a stone floor thus far), and I'm loving both Android and HTC Sense. Yes, you have to charge it daily, and hack it to move all apps to SD because the internal memory is laughable, but it's a tiny computer that works like a phone. I'm finally living in the future ;)

Right now my favourites are:
- K9 Mail (yes, I'm not Gmail-tied)
- Dolphin Browser
- That one. You know. With the birds.
- Random Mahjong
- Obenkyo for Japanese study
- 3G Watchdog to keep an eye on my data plan
- Stupid Zombies (because I ran out of levels on the one with the birds
- Handcent SMS (notifications = <3)
- Moon Reader
- Noodles (task/shopping lists)
- Twitter (official app)

Anyone got anything else that is shiny? :)

(Also, it's called Karenina, the wallpaper is Maki Ichiro as Anna Karenina, and the ringtone is Maki Ichiro singing Ich Bin Ein Echtes Wienerblut. In case you were wondering.)

The best thing about my new phone is that it means I don't have to drag a computer with me everywhere to stay completely connected (Echo Bazaar included). Thus I can take much lighter luggage to the lakeside cottage for the nine days I'll be spending there - leaving this afternoon, back on the 7th in the evening.

Not AFK in the least. Unless my signal's out.

I've got Vignette, which is supposed to be good for photos (haven't really got around to trying it properly), Cut the rope (game), Antivirus and Astro file manager on mine.

Moon Chaser is a fun game, and I really enjoy playing a game called "Jewels". (It's kind of like Bejewelled.)

RedLaser is a handy app that scans barcodes, and there's also an app called Sound Manager that allows you to set schedules for the volume of your phone calls/notifications/alerts. (I use it to effectively mute all but calls overnight, and then turn things back on at a reasonable hour based on if it's a weekday or the weekend.)

I also have Google Sky Maps, which is great if you like stargazing.

All of these are freebies too, which is nice.

My Jewels game is going very well... I'm currently on level 300 with a score of nearly 7 million. :D
